I'm Kyle, and I help engineers and businesses navigate the intersection of AI, fintech, and practical software development.
Most of my career has been spent solving the same fundamental problem: bridging the gap between what's technically possible and what actually creates value. Whether that's building systems that handle millions of transactions at Visa, creating APIs that served 100+ million requests during COVID, or founding companies that get acquired, I've learned that the best solutions come from understanding both the code and the business.
What I Do
I write about problems I've actually solved. No theoretical frameworks or abstract concepts—just real challenges with working solutions. If I'm writing about building a Redis clone in Go, it's because I needed to understand Redis internals. If I'm discussing AI implementation strategies, it's because I've shipped AI products to production.
My background spans both sides of the equation:
Engineering: I've built systems from startup MVP to enterprise scale. Previous Head of Technology for Innovation in Europe at Visa, where I worked on next-generation payment systems. Before that, founded and scaled multiple fintech companies, including BVNK (acquired 2021) and created COVID19API (acquired 2021).
Business: I've raised funding, managed P&Ls, and taken products from idea to acquisition. I understand what makes technology commercially viable, not just technically impressive.
Why I Write
The developer ecosystem is full of either pure technical content or pure business strategy. I write for people who need both: engineers who want to understand commercial impact, product leaders who need to understand technical constraints, and founders who need to bridge both worlds.
Most of my articles start the same way: "I had this problem, here's how I solved it, and here's what I learned." Whether that's optimising Go performance, implementing AI features that users actually want, or building developer tools that save hours of work.
Current Focus
Right now I'm particularly interested in practical AI implementation—not the hype, but the reality of building AI-powered systems that create genuine value. I'm also exploring the intersection of fintech and AI, having seen firsthand how both industries are evolving.
